Key dates in the history of the city of Bryansk

According to one version, the city of Bryansk wore a different name - Debriansk. It is derived from the word "debri" (jungle). The word denotes a wooded ravines and dense forests.

985 a year. The official date of the founding of the city. Date received by archaeological data, during the excavation of the old fortress city.

1146. The first mention of the city of Bryansk in chronicles.

1246. The occurrence of specific Bryansk principality.

1356. Bryansk was captured by the Lithuanian prince Olgerd and attached to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

1500. Moscow Governor James Zakharievich Cat won Bryansk and attached to the Moscow principality.
